The lifestyle, talent and quality produce from Melbourne and Victoria is what the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival seeks to promote and uphold in its annual celebrations. An event that is held for a fortnight period, the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is an event looked forward to by many across the world.

Held across Melbourne, this event invites master class chefs from around the world to unveil their talent and educate participants on how to produce gastronomic delights. The festival is operated on a not for profit basis and is administered by a board of management that works closely with a team from the wine and food industry in Victoria.

Held annually in March since its inception in 1993, 2011 marks its 19th consecutive year, and the festival is scheduled to be held from the 4th to the 14th of March. Close to 250 events are scheduled to take place within 12 days. Celebrated chefs from Victoria, Italy, London, including Elena Arzak and Nigella Lawson, wine makers, restaurateurs, artisans and producers will all flock to Melbourne to begin a celebration of wine, food and life!

The Chef Master Class Programme will, as last year, be a huge crowd pleaser, as will the World’s Longest Lunch event and the 60 odd regional Victorian events. Apart from this, there will be tastings, cocktails, educational events – all of which can be attended through a mix and match ticket purchase or any other kind of ticket purchase.

The Master Class Programme this year will run along three themes, namely “Stars of Spice”, “The Lost Arts” and the “Women of the Kitchen”.

If you are a food lover, then the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is definitely the place to be this March. So if you are thinking of visiting and are looking for a Melbourne hotel or more specifically a Melbourne luxury hotel from which to base yourself then the Langham Melbourne will be the ideal location.
