One of the many allures of the Thai island of Phuket is its delectable street food and here are some of the popular culinary creations you should try on your visit.

Grilled Meats & Fresh Seafood

Marinated grilled pork known as moo ping served on a skewer is a local favourite and is generally eaten with sticky rice or khao niao. Satay be it with chicken, pork, beef or even tofu is also popular and is eaten with a peanut sauce. Phuket restaurants and eateries also offer fresh seafood dishes with the likes of Age Restaurant providing seafood and meat prepared to perfection in a special Josper charcoal oven.

Noodle Dishes

Foodies looking to sample street food in Phuket shouldn’t miss the various noodle dishes on offer. Noodle soup is a great choice and features rice or egg noodles in a broth that can have additions of pork, chicken, beef, seafood or veggies. You also get mee Hokkien, a stir-fried noodle dish which can come with barbecue pork, while some variations have dumplings and eggs instead.

Som Tam

A perennial favourite in Thailand, som tam or green papaya salad can be enjoyed in Phuket too and be prepared to savour a wonderful flavour combination of salty, spicy, sour and sweet. Apart from the thin strips of green papaya, the dish features ingredients like palm sugar, fish sauce, lime, tomatoes, beans and chilli that help create a salad that truly packs a flavourful punch!
