What is a holiday to Bangkok in Thailand without sampling the best of Thai food! Whether you’re dining at the street side eateries at Yaowarat or at some of the best Bangkok restaurants like the ones at the AVANI Riverside Bangkok Hotel; there certain Thai dishes that you should not miss out on.

 

Tom Yum Goong– If Thai cuisine can be explained in one dish, it would be Tom Yum Goong or Spicy Shrimp Soup. This zesty soup is infused with a range of fresh ingredients and bold spices that come together in perfect harmony. Some of these ingredients are fragrant lemongrass, galangal, fish sauce, shallots, kaffir lime leaves and of course juicy, succulent prawns.

 

Som Tum– This is a well-loved by health conscious foodies the world over. Som Tum or Spicy Green Papaya Salad is a fresh salad that hails from Thailand’s Northeast state of Isaan. Som Tum is made by mixing together shredded raw papaya, garlic, green beans, chili, cherry tomatoes with a variety of spices. In some parts of Thailand, the salad is made by using dry shrimp, peanuts or salted crab.

 

Pad Thai – Translated as Thai style Fried Noodles, this is a popular street food that you can find in plenty at places like Victory Monument, Ratchawat Market, and Yaowarat a.k.a Bangkok’s Chinatown. To make Pad Thai, a fistful of thin noodles are thrown into a hot wok. Crunchy bean sprout, eggs, and onions are soon added to it. The noodles are seasoned with a good dose of sugar, chili powder, fish sauce, and ground peanuts.

 

Khao Neow Ma Muang– Finally something for those with a sweet tooth! Khao Neow Ma Muang means Sticky Rice with Mango and is a dessert that is enjoyed throughout Thailand especially during mango season. The dessert is made with a special type of sticky rice, sweetened and topped off with yellow mango and a good dose of coconut cream syrup.
