Dining in Maldives, always an enchanting experience
The Maldives, an idyllic archipelago of small islands scattered across the immense Indian Ocean has gained a strong reputation as a premier tourist destination. Boasting an enviable year-round sunny climate, spotless white sandy beaches bordered by sapphire seas and an exotic ambience, it is not surprising that the Maldives has become the destination of choice for honeymooners and vacationers alike.
Since all Maldives resorts are independent and self-contained, they will invariably feature at least one restaurant. The actual fare available varies by the resort, but generally one may expect quality international dining at these restaurants. This may include continental, American or Asian culinary features depending on the particular venue.
However the visitor’s place of dining is not limited to indoor spaces. Many resorts will arrange dining locations according to your preference. For a romantic ambience you may choose to have an intimate candlelit dinner on the beach in the evening, or have a picnic lunch amongst the sands during the daytime. Another delightful option is to have your dinner whilst watching the tropical sunset by the poolside. Many tourists take the opportunity to dine in the exotic setting of a coconut grove by firelight. If that is not secluded enough, take the opportunity to have your meals at a private island hideaway; some resorts will also arrange excursions aboard a traditional Maldivian dhoni vessel which will provide a romantic dinner in the midst of the ocean.
Visitors will find several modern restaurants targeted specially for them in the capital city Male. No visit to the Maldives is complete without sampling the unique local cuisine, and those who desire a genuine local experience will try out the small hotaa cafes. Here you will find authentic Maldivian fare; a traditional meal will include rice, a broth of fish and accompaniments of onion, lime, and chilli. Other well known dishes are curries which draw inspiration from Sri Lankan and Indian cuisine. Visitors should also make it a point to try out the delicious Maldivian snacks known as hedhikaa.
When considering Maldives resorts an excellent choice would be the Anantara Kihavah, a fine accommodation where one may select a delightful villa in Maldives. This exceptional resort always satisfies the expectations of its guests.
